Karthik (Nitin) is a carefree atttitude guy who believes in "one should make their own decisions" funda. At his friend Pandu's (Ali) wedding reception, he sees Shruthi (Isha Talwar) and falls for her at first sight. He asks Pandu's wife to find out about Shruthi. After Pandu's wife gives Shruthi's number to Pandu and asks him to convey that Karthik, a miscommunication between Karthik and Pandu leads to Karthik calling Shravani (Nithya Menen). Karthik mistakes Shravani for Shruthi and talks to her over the phone. Unbeknownst to him, Shravani knows who Karthik is and develops an interest towards him. A series of events clears Karthik's confusion and everything is revealed. Meanwhile Karthik helps his friend Madhu in gaining a girl's attention, who is none other than Shruthi. Shruthi falls for Madhu. A series of comedies lead to Madhu doubting Shruthi and their relationship is at stake. Meanwhile, Shravani plans to avenge the deception and pain that Karthik put her through. She gains employment as Karthik's boss and decides to put him through the same hardships. However, towards the end, Karthik wants to propose to Shravani and Shravani is ready to reject his proposal to avenge her pain. Just before he proposes, Karthik realizes he is truly in love with his phone friend Shravani and runs to her house to plead her forgiveness. There he sees Shravani and both unite with a hug.

Sega

Veppam (Tamil: வெப்பம்; English: Heat) is a 2011 Indian Tamil action thriller written and directed by newcomer Anjana Ali Khan, starring Nani, Karthik Kumar, Bindu Madhavi and Nithya Menen. The story narrates events from the slum areas of Chennai, showcasing characters and their struggles. The film, jointly produced by Gautham Menon's Photon Kathaas and R. S. Infotainment, had been in production for over one year. The film released on 29 July 2011, while a dubbed Telugu version, titled Sega, released simultaneously in Andhra Pradesh. Veppam received mixed critical response upon release.

Plot

The film is set in a slum in Chennai. Balaji (Muthukumar)'s mother dies and his father Jothi (Shimmore), a drunkard, leaves him on the streets. He works hard and ensures a decent living for his younger brother Karthik (Nani). Karthik, who studies in an engineering college, spends all his time with his friend Vishnu (Karthik Kumar), who is also brought up in the locality. There is Revathy (Nithya Menen) in the neighbourhood, who loves Karthik.
Jothi takes to illegal ways and makes money working for a drug peddler Ammaji (Jennifer). Knowing that Vishnu is in love with Viji (Bindu Madhavi), a call girl in the locality, Jothi decides to exploit him for his selfish gain. He gives him an assignment - to transport drugs to Pondicherry, promising to give him Viji if he completes the work. Vishnu takes the help of Karthik and leaves for Pondicherry. However sensing that something is fishy, Vishnu returns to Chennai. What follows next is the story of 'Veppam'.

Production

Veppam was shot in 46 days. Since the story was set in Chennai, it was mostly filmed in and around Chennai, with songs being canned in Mahabalipuram, Pondicherry and Kodaikanal.Anjana revealed that the story revolves around three friends - two boys and one girl - from the slums, played by Nani, Karthik Kumar and Nithya Menen, respectively, with Bindu Madhavi playing the role of a call girl. Nani and Bindu Madhavi had acted in several Telugu films before and would make their Tamil film debut through Veppam. The film was also supposed to be Nithya Menen's debut Tamil film, however due to the long delay in production, it would become her second Tamil release after 180. Nani and Nithya had starred together in the Telugu sleeper hit Ala Modalaindi (2011), which prompted the makers to dub and release the film in Telugu as well. Anjana had initially signed up with another producer, but since the project failed to take off, director Gautham Menon, under whom she had worked as an assistant director, stepped in and took over the production. Produced under approximately US$550,000, the film's domestic theatrical rights were sold for US$600,000, while the television rights, international theatrical rights and the rights to the Telugu dubbed version had been sold for a total of US$270,000.

180 (or Nootrenbadhu) is a 2011 Indian romantic drama film, directed by ad filmmaker Jayendra. Shot simultaneously in the Tamil and Telugu languages, This Film in Tamil Written by Subha & Jayendra, and Telugu Film by Umarji Anuradha. It stars Siddharth, Priya Anand and Nithya Menen with notable roles being essayed by Mouli, Tanikella Bharani and Geetha among others. Plot

The movie revolves around Ajay (Siddharth) who comes to Chennai/Hyderabad and introduces himself as Mano. He rents a house owned by elderly couple S V S Murthy (Mouli) and Jayam (Geetha). A do-gooder, Ajay lives life with a purpose. He gets along with everyone and wins the hearts of those whom he is close with. Vidhya (Nithya Menen), a photo journalist gets acquainted with him. Ajay is the sort of person who finds satisfaction in helping others. He sponsors the education of street children with the help of Vidhya who is attracted by his good nature. Things take a turn when she tells him about her feelings. Ajay, without informing her, decides to leave Chennai/Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, flashbacks reveal that Ajay was a doctor in USA and was attracted to Renu (Priya Anand). They get married only to be told months later that Ajay has cancer and he would die in a few months. As Ajay is about to leave the city, Vidya meets with an accident and has to be operated upon immediately. Ajay takes Vidya to USA for treatment. While in the USA, he meets his friend who asks Ajay to return to Renu, but Ajay leaves as he sees his wife happier without him. It is revealed that earlier Ajay had faked his death to make Renu believe that he had died so that she would not suffer thinking about him every day. Now seeing her happy, he decides not to meet Renu.

What's it about!

Rahul (Nitin) falls in love with Priya (Nitya Menen) when he first sees her at a traffic island in Delhi on his route to airport. She turns out to be his co-passenger on Hyderabad flight and due to bad weather the flight lands in Goa. In Goa, love between them blossoms. When they land in Hyderabad, Rahul gets to know that her brother (Ajay) is the guy with whom he has a quarrel. Rest of the story is how this Ishq wins in the end.

Analysis

Despite many flops to his credit, Nitin starrer Ishq generated good buzz thanks to its music and the presence of great technicians like P.C.Sriram and also its pleasant trailers. The film is directed by Vikram Kumar, whose last Hindi film, 13B, was a huge hit. There is freshness in the film, in performances of lead actors and in music. Yet, Ishq fails to capitalize it completely.

Nitin's playfulness, and the good chemistry between Nitin and Nithya have made the film interesting in the first half. But as there is no strong conflict in the story, the second half meanders inconsistently. It gets predictable too at times. Only in the penultimate scenes, the film comes back on right track. Also many scenes defy the logic.

The best part of the film is its romantic scenes in the first half. The episode of Airport and Goa are pretty good. On the whole, the film is decent romantic movie.

Performances

Nitin is cool and casual. He has matured and comes out with good performance. Nitya Menen once again proves that she has reservoir full of sassy expressions. Both of them have shared good chemistry. It is their jodi that is major asset to the movie.

Ajay in a rather different negative character comes out with good performance too. Ali provides some laughter in the second half. Satya Krishnan, Nagineedu, Rohini, and others in their brief roles are okay.

Renowned cinematographer P C Sriram's frames, as usual, are excellent bringing a touch of class to the movie. But his beautiful cinematography is spoiled by processing/grading at Gemini Labs in a more than couple of scenes.

Music by Anup Ruebens and Aravind Shankar is refreshing. Ramesh Samala's dialogues are neat and good. The subtle humor in dialogues has worked out well for the movie. Editor Srikara Prasad should have pepped up the pace and trimmed the run time.

Director Vikram Kumar has brought out good output from technicians and lead actors but his screenplay is not consistent. He has tried to give new twist to the cliched scenes.

Bottom-line!

Pre-interval romantic episodes, endearing lead pair and their chemistry, and good dialogues make the movie interesting. Despite faulty second half , Ishq, on the whole, is worth watch.

Ala Modalaindi (Telugu: అలా మొదలైంది) (Meaning : That's how it started) is a 2011 Indian Telugu romantic comedy film written and directed by Nandini Reddy under the Sri Ranjith Movies banner. It stars Nani and Nithya Menen in the lead roles. The film was released on January 21, 2011. The film opened to favorable reviews by critics and turned out to become a super hit, and successfully completed 100 days.

STORY

Ala Modalaindi begins with an accident. Gautham (Nani) is abducted by John Abraham (Ashish Vidyarthi). On the way Gautham is forced to narrate his tale as Gautham talks of stopping a marriage and John too talks of preventing a wedding. Hence, the flashback.
Gautham (Nani) is ready to propose to Simran (Kriti Kharbanda) with a bunch of red roses. But destiny has other plans.
Elsewhere, Nithya (Nitya Menen) is playing cricket and hits Gautham with her shot. He is then taken to the hospital in the stretcher. Here there's a twist. Simran falls in love with the doctor treating Nani and they get married in six months. Gautham goes to the wedding but cannot face Simran. When he walks out, he gets drunk and meets a drunk Nithya who actually was in love with the doctor. Later on, Gautham accompanies her everywhere. He realises he's in love with her. But it's not as simple as it seems. She's in love with someone else. The process takes a twisted and curvy route. And the audience too goes on that bouncy ride too.
