Mickey J Meyer (Telugu: మిక్కి జే మేrర్) is an Indian music composer and singer. He is a soundtrack composer in contemporary Telugu Cinema and is based in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.
His work has mostly seen hints of Western music. He owes this to his schooling from the Trinity College of Music, London.

Mickey J Meyer was born and brought up in Hyderabad, India. He was a student of St.Mary's College in Yousufguda, Hyderabad. He had been learning violin and grand piano from his childhood. He is also trained in Carnatic music. After his fifth standard, he got admission into the prestigious Trinity College of Music, London. He graduated from the eight-year long music course in the year 2002 and thereafter began practicing music.

Career

According to Mickey, he got addicted to music because of A. R. Rahman -who he hails as an inspiration and his most favourite musician- as he grew up listening to Rahman's music mostly. After graduating from Trinity College, in 2005, he decided to become a music director. He approached Tammareddy Bharadwaja and in the form of Pothe Poni (2005), he got his first break in the Telugu music industry. His music for Pothe Poni was succeeded by 10th Class (2006) and Notebook (2007) in the following years. Thereafter, he was signed by Sekhar Kammula for the film Happy Days, which was widely noticed and lauded and was considered as one of the best albums of the year. Consequently, he was awarded the Best Music Director Award at the three major Telugu Film Awards (Filmfare Awards South, Nandi Awards and CineMAA Awards) for the film. Noticeably, it was also the first film for which he composed the film score too.
The success of the film led to remakes of the film in Kannada and Tamil languages, Mickey J Meyer was retained as the music director in both the films (Jolly Days and Inidhu Inidhu respectively) and his entry into other Indian film industries happened. Following this breakthrough album, he got the opportunities to compose the scores and songs for the Telugu films Hare Ram and Kotha Bangaru Lokam, which slowly established him in the Telugu film industry. Later he delivered two musical entertainers namely Leader and Maro Charitra which proved his talent with well matured score. He also worked as one of the four music directors in the move namely AOD - Anaganaga O Dheerudu (Once Upon a Knight) for only one song "Chandamamala" with a very soothing effects on the traditional folk song. He has also composed the title song of the serial YUVA(2008 Maa TV Serial) in maa TV.

Hare Ram

Hare Ram is a 2008 Telugu movie directed by Harshavardhan, and produced by Kalyan Ram, under N.T.R. Arts. Kalyan Ram plays the lead role while Priyamani, Ali, Brahmanandam, Kota Srinivasa Rao and Raghu Babu play supporting roles. Mickey J Meyer was the music director, C. Ram Prasad handled cinematography, and was edited by Gowtham Raju. The film was released on 18 July 2008. This movie is the next best hit for Kalyan Ram after Athanokkade which was a blockbuster.

The film is about an IPS officer Hari (Kalyanram) who is busy investigating the murders of a news reporter (Prabhakar) and then a well known doctor (Rajeev Kanakala) and then discovers that these are the murders done by his conjugal twin Ram (Kalyanram).

The story goes that Ram has a problem with his brain and is unable to control his hyper emotions about few things which makes him a beast at times. He would not even hesitate to kill and does not like anyone being praised or belittling him. In this process, he builds a grudge against his own brother who is good at everything and tries to kill him right during their childhood. Their mother (Seetha) is unable to tolerate all this and takes it upon herself to change Ram, so she takes him away from Hari to avoid further hatred but then not much change happens in the nature of Ram even after they grow up. Meanwhile, Hari is often chased by Anjali (Priyamani) who poses as a bank employee but in truth she is actually a CBI officer who comes to arrest Hari since she suspects his hand in the killings of a news reporter (Prabhakar) and a well known doctor (Rajeev Kanakala). Apparently, the doctor happens to be the younger brother of the health minister Siva Reddy (Kota Srinivasa Rao) and from then on the minister is closely on the heels of the killer. Anjali finally manages to arrest Hari successfully through a plan of hers and soon she realizes her folly when she chances upon his mother and understands the entire story of Hari and Ram.

Why does Ram commit the two murders? Does he change his attitude towards his brother? Can Ram get out of the case smoothly? All this forms the rest of the story.

Notebook

Notebook is the darkest and the most depressing movie of this year. Stay away from this movie.

Chandu the director of "10th Class" has come up with Notebook that features a small real life incident. The movie is not based on this incident as the director has claimed elsewhere. He includes the incident of a girl giving a love letter to her boyfriend on one side of the page and asks him to give his opinion on the other side of the page. This is an interesting incident. Let me repeat it's the only interesting thing in the movie Notebook. But the movie Notebook is far from interesting. Notebook is based on two suicides. Chandu has nothing to shock or titillate the youth in Notebook.

The story is the same old stuff that thousands of movies have been based on earlier. A rich girl loves a poor boy. The poor guy is not only poor but he is a servant of the girl's family. The poor boy doesn't respond to the love of the rich girl. He is afraid of the girl's father. The girl writes in a diary about her feelings for the boy. When her marriage is about to be fixed, she gives the diary to her lover. The boy now summons all courage and expresses his feelings too in the same diary. But then it's become too late. The girl commits suicide. Unable to bear the separation the boy also jumps into the funeral pyre. Depiction of cowardice in the name of love!

What a morbid story! No other story can be more repulsive than this in this age when people want to enjoy life. Not even the person with the lowest IQ would like such an idea.

The director reveals about the tragic ending of the love in the beginning of the movie, so there is no real suspense.

In this age and time such stories really do not go down well with the public. Suicide sends a wrong signal to the public, especially the young ones who are not matured enough to decide between right and wrong.

We have always strongly condemned movies that are based on life negating and suicidal scenes. Life is too precious to be taken away for love and other trivial reasons. There is no glory in suicide, whatever being the reason. Suicide is an act of cowardice.

Try to live happily. Celebrate life. Avoid such dark and pessimistic movies. Do not watch Notebook. Wait for the release of the next good movie.
