According to Mickey, he got addicted to music because of A. R. Rahman -who he hails as an inspiration and his most favourite musician- as he grew up listening to Rahman's music mostly. After graduating from Trinity College, in 2005, he decided to become a music director. Thereafter, he was signed by Sekhar Kammula for the film Happy Days, which was widely noticed and lauded and was considered as one of the best albums of the year. Consequently, he was awarded the Best Music Director Award at the three major Telugu Film Awards (Filmfare Awards South, Nandi Awards and CineMAA Awards) for the film. Noticeably, it was also the first film for which he composed the film score too.
The success of the film led to remakes of the film in Kannada and Tamil languages, Mickey J Meyer was retained as the music director in both the films (Jolly Days and Inidhu Inidhu respectively) and his entry into other Indian film industries happened. Following this breakthrough album, he got the opportunities to compose the scores and songs for the Telugu films Hare Ram and Kotha Bangaru Lokam, which slowly established him in the Telugu film industry. Later he delivered two musical entertainers namely Leader and Maro Charitra which proved his talent with well matured score.
