Plot

Morampudi Anil Kumar (Ravi Teja) is a well educated but unemployed youth who comes to the city in search of a job. After attending a hundred interviews, he is offered a night watchman job by an employer who is impressed by Anil's honesty and dignity of labour. Anil starts looking for a room to stay in a nearby colony. Satyanandam (Jeeva) stays in the colony and takes care of a house of his friend living in America, collecting rent for him. Swathi (Kalyani) stays in that house and works in a software firm. Satyanandam is interested in collecting a second rent for himself and offers the house to Anil on the condition that he can stay there only during the day, without Swathi's knowledge. Anil agrees and moves into the house. Anil is impressed by the way the room is decorated and artfully arranged and understands that the lady staying there has a very good taste.

The colony is full of comical characters very typical of Vamsy's films. Satyanandam is a miser trying to make money by what ever means he can. His crazy brother-in-law (Krishna Bhagavan) keeps creating trouble for him and others in the colony. The washer-man (Mallikarjuna Rao) sells his crazy ideas to people. Potti Raju (Kondavalasa Lakshamana Rao) keeps making several attempts to start his own business but always ends up in a loss. The interaction of these characters with each other and the humorous situations that arise form the backbone to the movie's story line.

After a month, Anil accidentally breaks Swathi's porcelain artefact in the room and writes a letter to her apologising for his mistake. Swathi comes across the letter, and learns that some one else has been staying in her room without her knowledge. But she takes a liking for Anil's honesty and lets him stay in her house when she is not there. Both keep communicating through letters and become good friends, gradually falling in love without seeing each other. Anil and Swathi also happen to meet in a restaurant when she accidentally accuses him of stealing her purse. They start of as enemies but become good friends without knowing that they are room mates too. One day, Anil comes to know that the friend he has been meeting outside is none other than his own room mate Swathi, but does not reveal this to her, wanting to surprise her at the time of marriage.

Anand, the brother of Swathi's office manager takes a liking for her, and sends his father to her adopted parents in the village seeking alliance. Swathi's poor parents express interest, as it would help them to get their two younger daughters married. Swathi is in a fix, as she wants to help her father who adopted her and brought her up despite his poverty, but she cannot let go of her love for Anil. She expresses her dilemma to Anil as a friend, without any knowledge that it is with him that she is in love actually. Anil realises that Swathi's family would benefit from her marriage with Anand. He leaves a letter in the room telling her that he is deserting Swathi and going after a rich girl. As a friend he comforts Swathi and convinces her to marry Anand. However, Swathi comes to know the truth in the end through Anil's friend and they unite.

Pori

Pori (2007) ("Sparks" in English) is a Tamil film directed by Subramani Siva. Subramani Siva, who rendered his debut Thiruda Thirudi, a 2004 runaway blockbuster. This movie has Jiiva in the lead and Pooja as his lady love. The film met with negative reviews and turned out to be a box office bomb.

Plot

Hari (Jiiva) is an unemployed youth who runs a pavement book shop in Tripiclane area. His father (Nagesh) an upright retired school teacher buys him a shop in a building with his PF money. He names it “Periyar Bookshop” and runs it with friend Karunas. Meanwhile he constantly bumps into Pooja (Pooja), a television reporter and a love-hate relationship happens!
However, one day a Malaysian based businessman (Seeman) comes and evicts him from the shop claiming that the place belongs to him. Hari discovers that his father was cheated by a land mafia gang which specializes in forged documents and is hand-in-glove with revenue officials. Hari decides to take the gauntlet and unveil the evil forces behind those property grabbers.
Soon he discovers that Nama Shivayam (Sampath Raj), Vinayagam real estates owner, is the brain behind the entire operations. How Hari becomes a one-man army and brings Nama Shivayam to justice forms the rest of the story.

E

E (Tamil: ஈ, English: The Fly) is a 2006 Tamil Medical Thriller film directed by S.P.Jananathan, who won the Indian National Award in 2004 for his debut, Iyarkai. Jeeva, Nayantara, Karunaas and Pasupathy play lead roles. The film's music is composed by director, Srikanth Deva son of Deva.The film was criticise by critics for its 'poor' storyline. This film has some similarities with English film V for Vendetta.

Plot

The movie revolves around E alias Easwaran (Jiiva), an orphan brought up in the musty, teeming slums of Chennai by an old woman. For him money is the thing in life, he does anything for that. He Comes across Jothy (Nayantara), a bar dancer, who settles down in the same locality. After a few encounters they get acquainted with each other. E's simple ways attract Jothy.
Coming to know of his past, Jothy tries desperate to correct his ways and set him on the right path. Meanwhile Dr Ramakrishnan (Ashish Vidyarthi) takes up the task of testing a medicine devised by a foreign company, which may come handy in killing people in thousands especially during times of wars. Dr Ramakrishnan chooses Jothy's sister and E's grandmother as specimen for the test. He cashes in on the ignorance to slum-dwellers. Things take a turn, when E rescues Dr Ramakrishnan from a murder bid by Nellai Mani (Pasupathy).
A sequence of events brings Nellai Mani and E together. Without knowing his motive, E hides him in a secret place and decides to hand him over to Dr Ramakrishnan for a huge sum. Slowly E gets attracted by good ways of Nellai Mani. Through him, E comes to know of Ramakrishnan's ulterior motives. Nellai Mani, a revolutionary fighting for a cause, tries to bring about a change in E's heart. Succeeding in his attempt, Nellai Mani lays down his life leaving E to complete his task. The rest is all about E's show all the way in putting an end to Ramakrishnan and his evil ways.

Roudram

The film starts in the 1980s. A young Shiva (Jiiva) is taught by his grandfather (Prakash Raj) to be bold and brave and fight against all odds, especially all that's evil. Shiva grows up with his grandfather's words as the Bible. However, Shiva's parents (Jayaprakash and Lakshmi) want him to lead a peaceful life. Shiva gets arrested by the police after fighting with another law student, Guna who is one of Gowri's gang. Enters Priya (Shriya), a law college student. She is the daughter of a police official (Babu Antony). She bails Shiva out and falls for him after seeing him fight for other people's good. Eventually Shiva too falls for her. Guna wants revenge as Shiva had humiliated him in front of everyone. He wants Shiva dead. Things take a turn when Shiva goes to the bus stop with his friend to pick up Ramanujam's (Satyan) father. There, a couple of rowdies kidnap a young girl. Shiva could not stand this and fights with them. Gowri was one of the rowdies there and Shiva hits him. Gowri is infuriated and wants Shiva dead at any cost. Shiva's entire family stops talking to Shiva though he insisted that what he did was for the good. Shiva's sister gets married to Ramanujam eventually and his brother (Srinath) marries his long time love. These marriages happens without Shiva's knowledge and he becomes shocked and shattered. He packs up and leaves his house since he realises that his presence will only make things dangerous for his family. He takes his grandfather's photo along with him.

Meanwhile, Gowri threatens Priya and she marries Shiva though her father warns her about the danger surrounding him. Shiva's father comes to their house one day and tells Priya to convince Shiva to leave for Delhi the next morning where Priya's father had fixed a job for Shiva. Though Shiva was reluctant at first, he eventually agrees and they start packing. As Shiva sets out to bring an auto, Gowri's gang who had been planning to kill Shiva waits for him and attacks him. The rest, which is supplemented by electrifying stunt sequences, is about how Shiva emerges victor against all odds. The story ends with a thrilling and sad climax. Guna, who is still angry with Shiva kidnaps Priya. Shiva after hearing a woman's scream for help starts running to save her, however his father and Priya's father try to hold him back as they did not want any more trouble. Shiva eventually reaches the place where he sees Guna slit Priya's throat. Guna is shot dead. The film ends with Shiva carrying Priya and screaming in agony.

(Vachadu Gelichadu in Telugu) Vanthaan Vendraan (Tamil: வந்தான் வென்றான்; English: He Came, He Won) is an Indian Tamil crime thriller, written and directed by R. Kannan that stars Jeeva, Nandha and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles. Principal photography began on August 27, 2010,  and the film released on September 16, 2011.

The movie opens to a school where a boy recites before the school. Another boy is seen running to school as he is late. The teacher punishes him comparing to the boy who recited earlier, who is his younger step-brother. Enmity grows in the older boy as he is always compared to this younger brother. The younger brother burns the photo of the father of the older one as he was the reason for his defeat in the school's kabadi match. In retaliation, the older brother throws the younger one into a well. Watching him get drowned in the well, the older brother runs away from the village.
The movie then opens to Mumbai, few years after the incident. Ramana is an underworld don doing smuggling business with the help of local police and political support. He tries to kill Govardhan who is a rival to Ramana but he fails. Arjun tries to see him for many days but is not able to see him. Finally with the help of Delhi he manages to see him and tells him about his life-story. Arjun is a boxer and he accidentally meets Anjana while going to a boxing selection match. He could not attend the match because he spoils the miniature Anjana was carrying for her interview the same day. He helps her out and in turn Anjana travels to Kerala to meet the person in charge of the boxing selection match so that Arjun can get a second chance. However, it turns that Arjun has come with her to Kerala to express his love for her which she does not reciprocate. Finally, she agrees on the condition if her father agrees. When Arjun meets Anjana's father, he is accidentally shot by Ramana when he tries to kill Govardhan. Anjana proposes a deal to Arjun that if he make Ramana surrender to the police, she will marry him and Arjun has come to Ramana to make him surrender. But Ramana's gang thrash Arjun and throws him.

Anjana pesters Arjun as he is taking a long time to make Ramana surrender. In order to speed things up, Arjun demolishes Ramana's smuggling business and leaks about him to the Mumbai press. Ramana's business is sealed by Mumbai police and they plan an encounter for Ramana. Since all this happened because of Arjun, a fight ensues between them where Arjun is stabbed fatally by Ramana at the end. Delhi finally tells Ramana that Arjun is his step-brother whom he threw in the well in their childhood. Also what he told about Anjana and her revenge for her father's death was all his imagination so that Ramana will have compassion for their love as Ramana's love was a failure. Arjun has thought Ramana would succumb to Arjun's plea and surrender to the police so that he would escape from the police's encounter and he can return to their family.

Ramana realizes himself and surrenders to the police. In the end, a girl identical to Arjun's imaginative Anjana meets Arjun similar to their meeting in Arjun's imaginative story.

 

Snehithudu (Telugu) / Nanban (Tamil)

Nanban (English: Friend) is a 2012 Tamil comedy-drama film directed by Shankar, featuring an ensemble cast that includes Vijay, Jiiva, Srikanth, Ileana D'Cruz, Sathyan and Sathyaraj. The plot of the film illustrates the embankment of two friends on a quest for a lost buddy, who was once an optimistic and successful student. On their journey, they recount their college life and special moments that the three shared up until their lost friend secretly parted ways after convocation. During their quest, the two encounter a rivaling classmate who once made a long forgotten bet with them, a funeral that goes impossibly out of control, and a wedding they must crash.
The film's soundtrack and background score was composed by Harris Jayaraj and cinematography was handled by Manoj Paramahamsa. It is a remake of Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots (2009), which itself was adapted from the novel Five Point Someone – What not to do at IIT! by Chetan Bhagat. The film was produced by Gemini Film Circuit, who had purchased the remake rights of 3 Idiots in early 2010. A lengthy and controversial delay in casting caused commencement of filming to be pushed to a year later. Filming took place for a total of eight months in various locations in Europe and India. The film released to critical acclaimd and went to become a high commercial success. Its dubbed version in Telugu, Snehithudu, released on 26 January 2012 in Andhra Pradesh, also received good response at the box office. Nanban was screened at the Melbourne Indian Film Festival on 12 June 2012.

Plot

Venkat Ramakrishnan (Srikanth), Sevarkodi Senthil (Jiiva) and Panchavan Parivendan (Vijay) are three engineering students who share a room in the residence of Ideal Engineering College (IEC), Chennai. Venkat is studying engineering to pursue his father's wishes over his own wish — to become a wildlife photographer. Senthil is studying to raise his family's fortunes and get them out of poverty. On the other hand, Pari studies for his simple passion in machines and devices. Pari believes that success in studying is not achieved by solely memorizing definitions given by textbooks or professors, but by understanding and applying the concepts. He believes that one should follow excellence, not success, as success will come itself if excellence is followed.
However, this different approach is sneered upon by the faculties, including the deen of the college, Professor Virumandi "Virus" Santhanam (Sathyaraj). In contrast, Virus' favorite student, Srivatsan (Sathyan), also known as "Silencer", believes in mindless memorizing over understanding, in order to reach his goals of corporate and social status. Meanwhile, Pari falls in love with Virus' daughter who was a medical student Ria (Ileana D'Cruz) when he, Venkat and Senthil accidentally crash her sister's wedding banquet to obtain a free meal, which infuriates Virus. Virus labels Pari and his friends as "idiots" and continually attempts to break Pari's friendship with Venkat and Senthil.
Things further escalate when the three friends drunkenly break into Virus's house one night to allow Pari to confess his love to Ria, and urinate on the front door before fleeing. The next day, Virus threatens to rusticate Senthil unless he squeals on Pari. Not wanting to betray his friend or let down his family, Shalen attempts suicide and ends up paralyzed. Following his recovery, Senthil discards his fear of the future. Encouraged by Pari, both Senthil and Venkat gain courage to do what they were afraid to do before. Senthil takes a frank approach in an interview for a corporate job, while Venkat convinces his parents to allow him to pursue his love of wildlife photography, both successful in their endeavors.
When Virus discovers that Senthil successfully obtained a job offer, he conspires to prevent him from getting the job by creating an exam paper so tough that will deliberately fail Shalen. When Ria learns of his plan, she helps Pari and Venkat by providing them with the keys to her father's office. However, Virus catches them and expels them on the spot. Ria angrily confronts him, revealing that his son, Ria's brother, committed suicide when he could not get into IEC, like Virus demanded, even though he had no interest in engineering and instead wished to be a writer. At the same time, Ria's pregnant older sister Swetha (Anuya Bhagvath) goes into labor. A heavy rainstorm cuts all power and floods the streets, making it impossible for the ambulance to reach Swetha, and Ria is stuck at her hospital, where she had fled. Pari,Venkat and Senthil come to the rescue, along with other students from IEC. Over phone and webcam, Ria instructs She tells Pari to deliver the baby via voice over IP. After the baby is apparently stillborn, Pari resuscitates the baby by leading the students in saying "All is well". Virus reconciles with Pari and his friends, and allows them to stay for their final exams.
Their story is framed as intermittent flashbacks from the present day, ten years after Srivatsan bet that he'd become more successful than Pari. Having lost contact with Pari, who disappeared during the graduation party and went into seclusion, after five years, Senthil and Venkat begin a journey to find him. They are joined by Srivatsan, now a wealthy and successful professional in the USA, who is looking to seal a deal with a famous scientist and prospective business associate named Kosaksi Pasapugazh. When they find Pari's house in Ooty, they find a completely different man: the real Pari (S. J. Surya).
From him, they come to know that their friend was a destitute servant boy "Pappu" who loved learning, while he, the real Pari, disliked study. After seeing the boy's intelligence, the family agreed to let the servant boy study in Pari's place instead of laboring. In return, the real Pari would pocket his qualifications and after graduating, the servant boy will cease all contact. The real Pari reveals that Pappu is now a schoolteacher in Dhanushkodi. At the same time, they find out that, without Pari, Ria decided to marry the same price-obsessed banker that Pari initially talked her into dumping, and they go to rescue her from the wedding in Coimbatore. Venkat and Senthil find Ria and arrive at Pari’s school. Ria and the fake Pari rekindle their love, while Srivatsan mocks Pari for becoming a lowly school teacher. He asks Pari to sign a "Declaration of Defeat" document. When Pari's friends ask what his real name is, he reveals that he is actually Kosaksi Pasapugazh himself, and explains that teaching is just a hobby for him. Upon learning this, Srivatsan accepts his defeat and pleads his case with Kosaksi Pasapugazh to establish the business relationship he was after.

Rangam

(Rangam)Ko (Translation: King) is a 2011 Indian Tamil political thriller film directed by K. V. Anand starring Jeeva, Ajmal Ameer, newcomer Karthika Nair and Piaa Bajpai. The film was released on 22 April 2011 to mostly positive reviews, and was dubbed into Telugu as Rangam as well. The film's plot outline is inspired from the 2009 film State of Play.It is to be remade in Hindi to be directed by Prakash Jha, tentatively called Satyagraha with Akshay Kumar depicting Jiiva's role and Katrina Kaif for Karthika's role.

STORY

Ashwin (Jeeva), a young, energetic photojournalist working for the private newspaper Dina Anjal, witnesses Naxalites robbing a local bank. He chases them and manages to click photos of the robbers. When he tries to escape, he is stopped by a young woman (Karthika Nair) who assumes he is the culprit and helps the robbers to take his camera. However, he is able to secure the memory card of the camera and to prove that he is a press photographer he shows the photos to the police, who identify everyone except the gang leader (whose face is covered by a mask). At his office, he meets Renuka ‘Renu’, the woman who earlier mistook him, who has newly joined as Article Editor. Saraswathi ‘Saro’ (Piaa Bajpai) also works in his office who has feelings for Ashwin. After finding out that Ashwin likes Renuka, she sacrfices her love.
Vasanthan Perumal (Ajmal Ameer), a recent graduate and engineer, strives hard to enter the political field. He is in contest against his rivals who capture the people at the time of elections by giving freebies and money. No one cares about Vasanthan and his team of graduates, who promise a healthy government to people. Their group name happens to be 'Siragugal' (Wings).
Meanwhile, Renuka writes a cover story about politician Aalavandhan (Kota Srinivasa Rao), describing his attempt to marry a minor. Enraged by this, Aalavandhan barges into the newspaper office and shouts at Renuka. The audio recording of her interview disappears, and she is fired from her job for falsified reporting. Ashwin now risks his life to capture the pictures of Aalavandhan who actually engages in child marriage. Later the story with the photos is printed in their newspaper and this makes Renuka to fall in love with him.
Vasanthan organizes a political campaign meeting. Ashwin receives a text message from Saro that states there is a bomb underneath the stage where Vasanthan and his political party is. Ashwin manages to save Vasanthan, while he finds Saro seriously injured and fighting for her life amidst the riot, eventually dies from her injuries.
Ashwin, through a video clip recorded by another photographer, finds out that Saro was intentionally killed by someone. He later notices a resemblance between the leader of the bank robbery and this unknown killer, concluding that it is the same person.
Vasanthan wins in the elections taking majority, gaining the title of Chief Minister and his party raises to the secretariat. He orders the release of 20 naxals on Republic Day, citing humanity. Hearing this, Ashwin rushes to meet Vasanthan. In Vasanthan's office, he finds the leader of the bank robbery who had also killed Saro. He tells Vasanthan about it, but he ignores him and pretends to be busy. Ashwin then follows the leader to his hideout.At the same time, the CM (Vasanthan) orders Tamil Nadu Police to go kill the naxals at the address Vasanthan gave and the Police Commandos surrounds the perimeter. There he learns that it was Vasanthan who, with the help of the naxals, planted the bomb and killed Saraswati as she saw the bomb being planted. In the end Vasanthan gets killed by a blast. Ashwin never reveals the relationship between Vasanthan and the killer to the media. Ashwin feared that if he does so, other party members who won along with Vasanth in election will lose their seats because of people. Ashwin tells the press that Vasanth sacrificed himself to kill the naxals.Some days later Ashwin and and Renuka tells the truth to the chief editor and resign the job but editor told them to go back to do his jobs and they both came out got shouted by their senior as like the other days and Renuka telling the peon not to pour offer water on Saro cactus plant and Ashwin takes his camera went to shoot the Temple with Anmigam sir The film ends with a Thirukkural "If the lie you told is for good then the lie is consider as truth"
