Plot

Ammai Kosam is a social darma based movie in which, There are four unemployed graduates namely Venkat (Vineeth), Ravi (Ravi Teja), Balu (Ali) and Venu (Siva Reddy).

For the past five years, they are been wasting their time by doing eve-tease and other unconstructive things. Soon they become an embarrassment for their parents.

Anjali (Meena) is a Gemini photographer and this foursome teases her heavily. Their crude behavior does not offend her and she teases them again. After some time they call for a truce and this foursome settle as thick friends with Anjali.

She spots a talent each in them and asks them to channelize their energies in that direction. Venkat is a good poet. Balu is a good cook. Ravi is a champ at bike riding. Venu is good at mimicry.

As these guys never moved close to any other girl in their past, they mistook her friendly affection as love. Each guy feels that she loves him.

On Anjali's birthday, this foursome pools some gifts by stealing stuff from their respective houses. When Anjali comes to know about that she acts tough and tells them to make a living for themselves instead of burdening their poor parents. Each guy proposes to her in isolation and she accepts all the proposals and promises that she would marry them if they start living on their own. The rest of the story is about how these guys become responsible youth.

Plot

Manjunatha (Arjun Sarja) is an atheist, but a good person helping others in need and fighting evil and so even though Manjunatha hates Lord Shiva/Lord Manjunatha (Chiranjeevi), the latter loves his would be devotee. Manjunatha meets Kathyayini (Soundarya) a to-become devadasi and marries her. Soon they beget a son who like his mother is a staunch devotee of Lord Manjunatha. After marriage Manjunatha slowly transforms into a great devotee of Lord Manjunatha and with his devotion wins the hearts of everybody including the local King, Ambikeswara Maharaju Ambareesh who invites him to his court where he felicitates Manjunatha much to Manjunatha's dislike where the king realises that Manjunatha is going to die. In the meantime Manjunatha starts a koti linga pooja. Manjunatha is also troubled by his enemies and is aided by Lord Manjunatha who comes in various disguises to save his devotee and help him and his wife attain salvation. Donning the lead role, Arjun gave a stellar performance and is aided by a versatile role by Chiranjeevi. The other actors do well in their roles and music by Hamsalekha and good direction by K.R.R. makes this movie a worthwatch film.

Plot

Muta Mesthri is action based movie in which, Bose (Chiranjeevi) is a very patriotic man who fights for the rights of the local market workers against Aatma, the nearby underworld don.

Seeing his dedication for helping the working poor, the chief minister (Gummadi Venkateswara Rao) asks him to enter politics. As a politician, he takes charge of a special branch of commandos and destroys Aatma's illegal operations. In retaliation Aatma has Bose's sister falsely implicated in a prostitution case, after which she commits suicide on the court steps.

Bose resigns from his position and takes revenge on Aatma. Finally, he returns to his old life at the market.

Chanti

Chanti (Telugu: చంటి) is a 1992 Telugu film and remake version of Tamil movie Chinna Thambi directed by Raviraja Pinisetty. The film stars Venkatesh and Meena in pivotal roles. with original soundtrack by Illayaraja. The movie was again remade in Hindi as Anari (1993) with Venkatesh and Karishma Kapoor in lead roles.
This movie was a remake of a Tamil super hit film directed by P.Vasu. There is only one word to express the success of this film – Phenomenal. It is no wonder if one says people have thronged to theatres on bullock carts from rural areas only to see this film. The mother-child sentiment moved the audiences deeply, also by the great support of Ilayarajas lilting music. Venkatesh was lucky in terms of getting good scripts/good characters at the right time in his career. Though he was labeled as Remake hero, it didn’t stop him from winning many hearts. Venkatesh’s popularity had seen a big crest at this juncture. Chanti had re-written the box-office stamina of Telugu cinema in terms of all aspects that time. Producers even had plans to release a book on the records this film had created. This was the first film to cross 100 days in more than 40 direct centers that was an industry record that time. Meena & Raviraaja were other people who benefited from this film. With the stupendous success of this film, venkatesh realized that he should do more remakes to keep his success profile high. He succeeded in that aspect with many remakes and maintained the tag of victory venkatesh.

Plot

Meena is a only sister to a Zamindari brothers and Nazar is the elder one. Venkatesh is a unmatured person who is innocent and sings songs. Zamindari brothers employ Venkatesh as a servant for house as well as Meena. Meena loves Venkatesh, while he doesn't know what is marriage and Mangala sutra is. Meena makes Venkatesh to put Mangala sutra to her. Zamindari brothers came to know this and then the rest of the story is how they succeeded in their love.

Plot

Venkateswarlu (Venkatesh) arrives to the town and gets appointed as a Telugu lecturer in the college. Aparna is a brilliant student in the class. Brahmanandam and few other students, in order to make fun, puts a love letter as if written by Venkateswarlu in the book of Aparna. Aparna develops love on Venkateswarlu but the later tries to stay away from her solely because she is his student.

In order to put an end to the mischievous acts of Aparna, Venkateswarlu marries Meena, a lady hailing from an orphanage. Meanwhile, Aparna is diagnosed of a deadly situation and that she will only live for few more days. Plot

Venkatesh played dual role (Father and Son) in this film. Venkatesh (Father) is one of the most respected, most educated and among the wealthiest men in his district. He is respected by one and all, however his only black mark is his son -Venkatesh(Son) who is considered a dunce owing to his poor academic history. Venkatesh(son) once loved and adored Sanghavi who was his wife to be until she attempted suicide to prevent this union (as venkatesh was a dunce). To prevent any misunderstandings venkatesh (son) declared that he was not interested in Sanghavi (Gowri) and earned his father's wrath.

When Meena arrives for her brother's wedding to Venkatesh's sistershe is moved by vekatesh's deep love and falls in love with him. Meena and Venkatesh marry and enrage both sets of their parents however with Hard work Venkatesh gradually becomes one of the biggest businessmen in town and among its wealthiest citizens- making Venkatesh (father) proud of him. When the enemity of Anand Raj threatens to create a rift, father and son solve it and the family is happily united.

Swamy

Kathanayakudu

Jagapatibabu, though popular as family subjects' hero, had several hit films in other subjects too. He had a different image. He is a very good performer too and this was proved with films like 'Hanuman Junction, Gayam, Antahpuram and Samanyudu'. Once again, director P Vasu chose this hero for a deglamourous role which maintains a low profile all through the film, but has a lot of scope for performance. The film explains the value of friendship. The story runs between a rich man and a poor man and their childhood friendship. In order to show the richness, the director chose films which is the most common commodity among the people. People always think that the heroes would earn lakhs of rupees besides a huge image and going near them is a difficult task.

Balu (Jagapatibabu) has a small saloon in a village, which doesn't have the basic requirements like a revolving chair and a good mirror. He has a wife Sri Devi (Meena) and three children including two girls. Sri Devi was very accommodative and has an understanding. However, Balu is unable to make both ends meet with his daily earnings. He is not in a position to pay his child's school fee. He used to say that Super Star Ashokkumar (Rajanikanth) was his childhood friend.

Incidentally, Ashokkumar comes to their village for a 20-day outdoor shooting. Balu's children start pestering him to take them to Ashokkumar, but Balu is quite hesitative as he is not sure whether Ashokkumar could identify him. If Ashokkumar did not recognise him, Balu might be necked out and that would be not only an insult to his friendship, but also Balu would lose the prestige before his family. At this juncture, the school principal (Gita) comes to Balu and pleads with him to invite Ashokkumar as chief guest for the silver jubilee function of the school, which Balu could not.

Somehow, the college management gets the appointment of Ashokkumar and invite him to the school function. Ashokkumar accepts their invitation and reels out his experiences in childhood and talks great about his friend Balu. Did Balu meet Ashokkumar even after realising that he did not forget him? What Ashokkumar did when he learns about Balu? Is that lecture at the school function is like filmy dialogues or did he really remember his friend? Answers to all these questions form part of climax.

Performance:

Jagapatibabu gave a brilliant and excellent performance all through the film. Especially, doing such a character, especially the role of a barber, is great for a hero with some stature. Moreover, the character was completely deglamorous and had a very low profile. But Jagapatibabu really lived in the character. His histrionics and body language were perfect to the core and director was able to extract all the acting talents from Jagapatibabu.

Meena, who played opposite Jagapatibabu, also did complete justice to the role. She appeared on the screen after a long gap, but was good to watch as the mother of three children. She lost her weight considerable and appeared glamorous.

Rajanikanth played the real life role in the film. He maintained his usual style and appeared glamorous in the film. He has not much scope to perform in many of the scenes in the first half and most part of the second half as well.

However, it was he who mesmerised the audiences with his performance in the climax. Veteran playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam lent his voice to Rajanikanth. His dialogue modulation perfectly suited the style of Rajanikanth, especially while delivering the lecture in a school function, where he narrates the value of friendship.

Nayanatara also played the real life role in the movie.

Comedy by Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, Sunil, Ali, MS Narayana and others are okay and was able to tickle the funny bone of the audiences, especially when the movement of the film is giving boredom.

Technical:

Padma Shri Thota Tarani, who was responsible for excellent sets for Rajanikant's latest film Sivaji, once again came up fantastic sets for this film too.

Camera work by Arun Krishna is okay. The most notable technician for the film after the director is the dialogue writer. Marudhuri Raja penned dialogues for the film, which are very good and casual. Dialogues in the climax were quite heart-touching.

Editing is perfect in the film, as the audiences can't find even a single scene which is irrelevant and boring. Above all, it is P Vasu who needs compliments for coming out with another good film. After a blockbuster like 'Chandramukhi', he came out with another notable film. As was rightly said by Rajanikant during the preview of the film, such movies would come very rarely. The director was able to maintain the friendship thread in a peculiar way. Though the story appears dragging till the climax, the audiences never feel boredom with occasional and timely comedy track.

Music by GV Prakash Kumar, the nephew of AR Rahman is melodious and the audio was a big hit even before the release of the film. Especially the song penned on the making of a film was worth listening, with good literary values.

Remark:

Though the hero of the film is Jagapatibabu in reality, the producer and director chose to highlight Rajanikanth, keeping in view the saleability of the film. Though Rajanikant appeared on the screen for less than 45 to 60 minutes, the film made a business of more than Rs 60 crore, just because of the image of Rajanikanth. The film proved a tear-jerker in the climax. The audiences who pay a price of Rs 50 for the ticket would feel satisfied with the last 20 minutes' of the movie.
