Naga Chaitanya

Naga Chaitanya is an Indian film actor who stars in Telugu films. He made his debut in the 2009 college film, Josh. His second film was, Gautham Menon's Ye Maaya Chesave with his portrayal of a love-torn film director winning him critical acclaim.

Early Life and Family

Naga Chaitanya was born on 23 November 1986 to actor Akkineni Nagarjuna and his first wife, Lakshmi Daggubati. Naga Chaitanya's paternal grandfather, Akkineni Nageswara Rao is one of the stalwarts of Telugu cinema. His maternal grandfather, Daggubati Ramanaidu, is a producer in the film industry whilst his maternal uncle, Daggubati Venkatesh is also one of Tollywood's lead actors. Naga Chaitanya's cousins, Rana Daggubati, Sumanth Yarlagadda, and Sushanth are also film actors. His step-mother is actress Amala Akkineni and his half-brother is child actor Akhil Akkineni.
Naga Chaitanya was born in Hyderabad, but moved to Chennai with his mother after his parents split. He received schooling at the PSBB School in Chennai, during which he often visited his father in Hyderabad. He played the guitar and drums occasionally for the PSBB school band. He was then sent to an acting school in Mumbai, and subsequently to Hollywood Studios in California (USA) to learn dance and fights before he made his debut.

Career

Following in his family's footsteps, Naga Chaitanya's debut was widely anticipated. After several rumours regarding his debut, during the audio launch of his father's King, Chaitanya was introduced to the film world where his debut film was launched. Josh, directed by newcomer Vasu Varma and produced by Dil Raju, featured him alongside fellow debutant Karthika Nair, daughter of Radha, with his role drawing comparison with his father's character from Shiva. However upon release, the film fared averagely at the box office and received negative reviews from film critics, although Naga Chaitanya's performance secured him the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for South Indian films.
Prior to the release of his first film, he signed his second film with Indira Productions, which was to be directed by Gautham Menon and featured music by A. R. Rahman. Ye Maaya Chesave released in February 2010 to unanimous positive reviews with the film being dubbed as a "classic" by reviewers, with comparisons drawn to his father's romantic film, Mani Ratnam's Geethanjali. Critics also praised his on-screen chemistry with debutant actress Samantha, as the film went on to become a commercial success at the box-office. This was the Telugu version of the Tamil film, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya. He also made a cameo appearance in the Tamil version.
His next movie was Sukumar's 100% Love with Tamannaah Bhatia has gained success in the box office. His next movie Dhada with Kajal Aggarwal directed Ajay Bhuyan released in August with huge expectations was a colossal failure. His next movie is Bejawada produced by Ram Gopal Varma. This movie released on Dec 1st 2011 and received negative feed back and remained as a one of the disaster in his career. Naga Chaitanya is currently working with the Director Deva Katta' for the movie Autonagar Surya. This movie stars Samantha who has already worked with Naga Chaitanya in Ye Maaya Chesave. Naga Chaitanya is often referred to as the youngest male actor in Telugu.
Now he accepts Linguswami's recent directorial tamil film titled Vettai, to remake in telugu, which features Sunil as his elder brother.

Autonagar Surya

Autonagar Surya (Telugu: ఆటోనగర్ సూర్య) is a forthcoming Telugu film directed by Deva Katta. It stars Naga Chaitanya and Samantha in the lead.

This is an action drama starring Naga Chaitanya in the lead. After delivering a cult classic like Prasthanam, Deva Katta pens the story, dialogues and directs the film amidst high expectations. The film will see Samantha playing the female lead for the second time opposite Naga Chaitanya with the first one being her debut Ye Maaya Chesave in 2010. Music is composed by Anoop Rubens. The film expected to hit screens during later half of 2012.

Bejawada

Bejawada is a Telugu film directed by Vivek Krishna and produced by Ram Gopal Varma. The film features Naga Chaitanya and Amala Paul in the lead roles. Bezawada movie released and received mixed to negative reviews.

Plot

Kali Prasad aka Kali (Prabhu) is the man of masses in Bezawada.His group has a strong hold on temple city.Vijay Krishna (Mukul Dev) is right hand to Kali. On the flip side Kali’s brother Shankar Prasad aka Shankar (Abhimanyu Singh) does not like the supremacy of Vijay Krishna. Due to this personal grudge, Shankar plays spoil sport of brutally killing his brother Kali and then spreads the rumor in Bezawada about Vijay Krishna as man behind this murder.With the help of politician Ramana (Kota Srinivas Rao), even Shankar plans to become a politician but fails due to Vijay Krishna’s authority on Student and Labor Unions. Vijay Krishna has two brothers Jaya Krishna (Ajay) and Siva Krishna (Naga Chaitanya). Slowly and steadily, Shankar successfully assassinates Vijay Krishna for building his own identity. It is time now for cool, daring and dashing Siva Krishna to enter the scene for completing revenge saga. How did love life of Siva Krishna with college girl friend Geeta (Amala Paul), daughter of top brass policeman Adi Vishnu (Ahuti Prasad) is affected in this retaliation process forms another angle in story.

Production

Ram Gopal Varma announced that he was set to direct a Telugu film titled Bejawada Rowdilu in a press note in September 2010, which would revolve around the rowdy wars of Vijayawada also known as bejawada.  The title started a controversy from vijayawada locales who felt that title wrongly defamed their city, so Varma in August 2011 announced that the film would simply be known as Bejawada. The film was officially launched on May 12, 2011 with Ram Gopal Varma's protege, Vivek Krishna, announced as the director. The team held a photo shoot and filmed for two days in Vijayawada with Preetika Rao, before removing her from the project with the producer citing that she looked older than the lead actor, Naga Chaitanya. She was subsequently replaced by Amala Paul.

It is estimated that the film as collected 15 crore (US$2.99 million) as per 50 days the satilliete rights were sold for 1 crore (US$199,500), the film has collected a amount of 4 crore (US$798,000) on its releasing day.hence, the movie is flop at the critics and a average as box office as per collections of amount of 15 crore (US$2.99 million).Gemini TV bought satelitte rights for 3 crore (US$598,500) budget = 12 crore (US$2.39 million) Box office = 5 crore (US$1 million)

Dhada

Dhada (Telugu: దడ; English Translation: Tremor) is a Telugu-language Romantic-Action film directed by Ajay Bhuyan and produced by D. Siva Prasad Reddy. The film features Naga Chaitanya Akkineni and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles. while the filming continued with schedules in India, Thailand, Milan, Europe. with the title Dhada only being announced in April 2011. The film features music by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Gnana Shekar V.S of Vedam fame, editing by Dharmendra Kakarala of Prasthanam and LBW - Life Before Wedding fame and released on August 11, 2011 and declared as a Box Office Bomb.

Plot

Story starts with the film name dhada as Naga Chaitanya is a dhadar chasing beggers who attempts to buy in a supermarket and after he catches them and handovers to his brother. Later his family members are introduced. His older brother, (Srikanth), and his sister-in-law (Samiksha) who, together, stays with him. Vishwas meets Rhea(Kajal) who is an only daughter of wealthy business tycoon (Mukesh Rishi) who is concerned about money and growth but not about affection and love. While Vishwas is trying to get attention of Rhea he will accidentally get into a quarrel with a gang who does business with human trafficking. He fights and frees some girls who were kidnapped and this gang is owned by (Rahul dev) who tries to find Vishwas and end him up. Then Rhea's dad sets up a proposal with another sonof a business tycoon. Rhea is not intrested. The gang's owner soon finds out that Vishwas's brother works for him and he tries to chase him down but Vishwas beats everybody up. He soon realizes that he has to save Riya from her soon- to be - husband. Riya's fiance tries to kill riya by locking her in a car and throwing the car into an ocean. But Vishwas throws a knife into Riya's fiance's neck and goes to save Riya. The film ends with Vishwas bringing Riya out of the ocean in a blanket and the two are talking.

Production

Reports emerged in December 2009 that director Ajay Bhuyan would direct a film starring Naga Chaitanya in the lead role. The film soon began production works with Kajal Aggarwal being signed on in a leading role, with the producers announcing a release date of July 2010. The producers approached Arjun and Kamalinee Mukherjee to appear as the brother and the sister-in-law of Naga Chaitanya, although talks were unsuccessful.

Subsequently Srikanth and Anita Hassanandani were selected for the roles, but Anita opted out before her schedule began and was then replaced by Samiksha.

The film began shooting in May 2010 after delays. The film was completed in four schedules, with the climax being shot in Bangkok, Thailand.

This movie received negative reviews From critics and has been declared flop at the box Office. The collections were 31 crore (US$6.18 million). The movie artist association channel bought satellite rights for 7 crore (US$1.4 million).

Josh

Josh (Telugu: జోష్) is a 2009 Telugu film that marked the debut of Naga Chaitanya and Karthika in the lead roles, whilst, prominent actor J. D. Chakravarthy plays a pivotal role. Directed by Vasu Varma, and produced by noted producer, Dil Raju. An initial date of the 3rd of September for release, was delayed due to the death of Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. It was eventually released two days later. Prior to release, the film has been anticipated highly, as it marks the debut of Naga Chaitanya Akkineni, the son of Telugu actor, Nagarjuna Rao Akkineni. Another interesting fact about the movie is that Karthika is the daughter of yesteryear's popular South Indian actress Radha. Karthika is also making her debut with this movie.

Satya (Naga Chaitanya) is a student. He discontinues his graduation studies in Vizag and comes to Hyderabad in search of a job. He stays with his uncle (Sunil) in Hyderabad. He runs into a fight with MGM college students who are influenced by political mafia leader Durga Rao (J. D. Chakravarthy). Satya tries to change the students but fails. Then Satya joins the college to cleanse the system. On the other hand there is Vidhya (Karthika Nair) who aspires to go to college but could not as her brother feels that college students are rowdies and she would not be safe in college. So she teaches in an elementary school. She meets Satya and love blossoms between them. Main crux of the movie is how Satya changes the students and brings them out of the bad influence of Durga Rao.

Ye Maaya Chesave

Ye Maaya Chesave (Telugu: ఏ మాయ చేసావే; English: What Magic Have You Done to me?) is a 2010 Telugu-language romantic drama written and directed by Gautham Menon.The film stars Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead roles. It was produced by Manjula Ghattamaneni under the banner Indira Productions, and features a very successful music soundtrack composed by A. R. Rahman. Other credits include cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa, dialogues by Umarji Anuradha and editing by Anthony Gonsalves. The film was simultaneously shot in Tamil as Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa with a different cast and climax. The film's Television rights were sold to Zee Telugu.
The film portrays the complicated relationship between a Telugu Hindu assistant director, Karthik, and a Malayali Christian girl, Jessie whom he falls in love with. Jessie is torn between her love for Karthik and her family, who is steadfast in their disapproval of him. This results in a volatile relationship until Jessie leaves him without an explanation. They accidentally meet after a couple of years and the movie takes a different turn.
The Tamil version was made following much speculation that Gautham Menon was set to remake the film with Manjula's brother, Mahesh Babu. Shooting continued through the latter part of 2009, with the film garnering significant media interest, with schedules in the United States, with Princeton University being used as a backdrop for song picturisation.


Karthik (Naga Chaitanya), is a mechanical engineering graduate but aspires to become a filmmaker. Through his friend, Karthik gets introduced to a cinematographer. With the support of him, Karthik becomes an assistant director to Puri Jagannadh. Karthik's family, who are Hindus, lives on rent on the ground floor of a two storeyed house which belongs to Jessie's (Samantha Ruth Prabhu) family, a conservative Malayali Catholic family from Alappuzha, Kerala, who live on the floor upstairs. When Karthik meets Jessie for the first time, he falls in love with her. Karthik expresses his love one day to Jessie, who is afraid of speaking to other men around her strict father's sight, and ends up angering Jessie. The two meet several times afterwards and Jessie begins to admit that she also liked Karthik, but wants to refrain from any problems because she knows her father won't accept a Hindu to marry his daughter. Her parents came to know about their affair and arrange a marriage for her. But at the wedding, she refuses to marry the groom, displeasing everyone in her family. Karthik and Jessie continue to love each other without the knowledge of their parents. Suddenly, Jessie is forced by her father to marry and seeks Karthik's help, who was in Goa for a film shooting. Karthik is unable to attend to her calls and messages as he was busy on the shooting spot and Jessie is unable to reach him. After a tense phone call from Jessie, Karthik goes back one night to check on Jessie. An angry and hurt Jessie makes a final decision to break up with Karthik because of her father's strong disapproval of their love.
Later on, Karthik gets to know that Jessie got married and is settled abroad through his sister. Two years later, Karthik meets Nandini (Sapan Saran), who falls in love with him, but is rejected by Karthik who cites his previous affair with Jessie whom he could still not get over. He then comes up with a script for his first film, which happens to be his very own love story. He calls upon Silambarasan Rajendar as the film's protagonist and Trisha Krishnan (who are actual leads in Tamil version of the film) as the female lead. The film is eventually titled Jessie. He then sees Jessie 3 years later in US, and thinks she is married. However she reveals to him that she is not married. She refused to marry anyone her parents set up because they rejected Karthik. Out of anger, her parents leave. They then get married at a Hindu temple and a church. The film ends at a theater where they watch "Jessi" that was directed by Karthik.

Production works began in February 2010, while the filming continued for over one year, with the title only being announced in March 2011.The film features music by Devi Sri Prasad and was released on May 6, 2011. The film was dubbed and released in Malayalam with the same title

STORY

Balu Mahendra (Naga Chaitanya) is always the number one student in his college. Mahalakshmi (Tamannaah Bhatia), his cousin comes to Balu’s house to continue her studies. She is in awe of her Mr. Perfect ‘Bava’ and takes his help to achieve big in studies. Surprisingly, she surpasses him and becomes the first ranker. Balu gets deeply hurt by this and he resorts to cunning ways to deviate Mahalakshmi. But to his surprise Ajith (Anand) stands first this time. Meanwhile Mahalakshmi's father brings her a marriage proposal, but she doesn’t want to marry him. Balu and Mahalakshmi compromise by agreeing to help each other. Balu helps her in getting the proposal canceled and Mahalakshmi starts deviating Ajith from studies for the sake of Balu. When the couple is heading to fall in love, Mahalakshmi unknowingly hurts the ego of Balu and they get separated. After three years they meet again in the hospital because their grandmother suddenly falls ill. While trying to find out how Balu is doing, Mahalakshmi realizes he hadn't changed at all. Both argue a lot until their parents try to get them married. Surprisingly, Balu mentions that he has a girlfriend named Swapna that he hopes to marry. While introducing her to his family, Mahalakshmi notices that Swapna is much more than she is. To get back at Balu, she agrees to get married to Ajith, Balu's former rival in college. Ajith turns out to be the head of a company that makes more than Balu's company. Balu, angry that Ajith is greater than he is, puts his company in risk in hopes that he can surpass Ajith's company. Unfortunately, his partner cheats him, and Balu is on the verge of losing his company. Mahalakshmi works hard to help him out of the hard time as his new project manager. Both make an excellent team and Balu's company is saved. In an after party, Balu credits Mahalakshmi for his success. She again unknowingly hurts Balu's ego. This time, Balu confesses that he felt the need to be great in Mahalakshmi's eyes because he loved her. When she tells him she shares his feelings, Balu refuses to believe her. After the interference of their grandfather, the two are united in the end.
