Arjun Sarja (born
Sreenivasa Sarja Ashok Babu Sakthi Prasad Arjun on 15 August 1964) is an Indian film actor and director. Son of Kannada film star Shakti Prasad, he has primarily acted in Tamil films, and also appeared in Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu films. The title "Action King" has been given to Arjun by fans, for the numerous roles he has portrayed in action films. He is also a black belt holder in Karate. He has done more than 130 films in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu.
Personal life
Arjun was born in Karnataka. Arjun's initial desire was to become a
police officer. He went to police training and was selected but later
opted to become a film star. He has acted in over 200 films in five
different languages. His wife Niveditha( Asha Rani) is also an actress
who has acted in a Kannada movie called Rathasapthami with Shivaraj Kumar. Arjun has two daughters, Aishwarya and Anjana. His nephew (elder brother's son) Chiranjeevi Sarja acts in Kannada movies. Arjun has built a temple for Lord Anjaneya in Chennai.
Film career
Arjun started as actor in Kannada film
Putaani Agent 1-2-3 with director Rajender Singh Babu. He then moved to Tamil and Telugu films. His first Tamil film was
Nandri in 1984 with actors Karthik and Nalini. His popular movies in Tamil include
Gentleman,
Jai Hind,
Kurudhipunal,
Mudhalvan,
Rhythm,
Ezhumalai,
Giri,
Marudhamalai and Mankatha, there by establishing himself as one of the popular actors in the Tamil film industry. In Telugu, he is known for his role in the 1985 movie
Maa Pallelo Gopaludu. Arjun has also directed and produced some films. Arjun has won a Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor for
Gentleman. Unarguably He is the Action king of south India.
